Air humidifier for children - for guaranteed comfort in their bedrooms

Does your child have dry skin and a sore throat, or suffer from minor respiratory complaints? The cause of these problems could be the dryness of the air. If this is the case, don’t panic - an air humidifier for children enables you to restore the level of humidity in your child’s bedroom - and throughout the house!

THANKS TO A HUMIDIFIER, YOUR CHILD’S BEDROOM WILL BE HEALTHY

One solution for cleansing the air in one of your rooms is to use an air humidifier. This very effective device deals with the dryness of the air by improving the level of ambient humidity. It diffuses a mist into the surrounding air, reducing the risk of colds and other respiratory infections by preventing nasal mucous membranes from drying out. The recommended level of humidity during the winter season varies between 30 and 50%.

There are various types of air humidifier suitable for a child’s bedroom. So how do you choose? Here is our advice for making the right choice.

CHOOSE YOUR AIR HUMIDIFIER FOR CHILDREN WISELY

Before buying an air humidifier for children, you need to know about the two available options - a hot steam device, or a cold vapour one.

  • A cold vapour humidifier is very suitable for a child and is an excellent option for cleansing the air in his or her room. To make the most of its benefits, we recommend emptying and cleaning the device systematically after each use to prevent the potential proliferation of bacteria.
  • By opting for a hot steam humidifier, you save time. This device avoids the chore of cleaning the device regularly. Nevertheless, you need to be aware of the risk of scalding. For this reason, never place the humidifier within reach of your child.
  • Some humidifiers even enable essential oils to be added, such as our Charly and Pommy. This configuration is appealing because, in addition to easing your child’s breathing, it helps them sleep and purifies the air. Furthermore, the use of essential oils as a remedy is ideal for children aged three or above, assuming of course that you:

- pay careful attention to the quantities indicated, or decide to dilute it for use
- do not diffuse the oils in the direct vicinity of the child
- choose essential oils suitable for young children, as not all are.

OUR ADVICE FOR USING AN AIR HUMIDIFIER FOR CHILDREN

  • An air humidifier is not a substitute for daily airing of the house. So make sure you air the house for an average of ten minutes or so per day.
  • Always place the humidifier out of reach of children.
  • Install the device at least 1 metre from the ground for optimal diffusion of the vapour.
  • Opt for a cold vapour humidifier to prevent the risk of scalding and excessive temperatures.
